Realpolitik. In order to secure a prosperous future for our posterity, we must acknowledge truth, no matter how distasteful or ugly. And we must act upon them without regard to ideology. Short-sighted morality is our most insidious threat. Our actions are today are merely so that we might feel righteous about ourselves, rather than seeking the betterment of the human condition in the long run. If we do not return to some form of Realpolitik, our way of life will slowly degrade until at long last, our societies will be indistinguishable from the 3rd world. My only comfort is knowing that Realpolitik remains alive in the form of the Chinese, who will carry on the torch and improve upon the world built by the West. Should the worst come to pass, may they learn from our mistakes.
